Catholic Tonight: Why Did Dolan and the Bishops of New York Persecute Jesus Christ?

by

Now Saul, still breathing murderous threats against the disciples of the Lord, went to the high priest and asked him for letters to the synagogues in Damascus, that, if he should find any men or women who belonged to the Way, he might bring them back to Jerusalem in chains.
On his journey, as he was nearing Damascus, a light from the sky suddenly flashed around him. He fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to him, “Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me?”
He said, “Who are you, sir?” The reply came, “I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting.
Acts 9:1-5

.
At the end of June, when too many Catholic bloggers were weighing in on New York’s own John Corapi (former Father Corapi) leaving the Society of Our Lady of the Most Holy Trinity (SOLT) to pursue his own lay ministry, there was a complete caputulation by the Bishops of that same state to the money and influence of the Homosexual Agenda over the politicans of the Big Apple. So-called marriage between persons of the same gender was legislated in New York on June 24th and the Catholic Bishops of that state were complicit in its passing by their lack of a fight.

I wish I could say that it was addition of insult to the injury, or more embrassament, or that it was even more spit in the face that it was the Eucahrist receiving Governor of New York, Andrew Cuomo, with his pro-abortion stance and live-in girlfield, who spearheaded the coupe over the Republican controled State Senate, but there wasn’t enough fight on the part of Timothy Dolan and other Bishops of New York to say that a fight even took place. It reminded me of Michael Spinks laydown to Mike Tyson in 1988 (watch the video here for a visual). There was no blood, no public protest by the Bishops, no march on the State House lead by Dolan, the President of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB).

Granted, Archbishop Dolan did release a short blog entitled The True Meaning of Marriage in which he never called Homosexual Marriage morally evil, a sin, intrincially evil, or anything. The closest he came to that was calling the legislation of Gay Marriage ‘false’ and ‘wrong’.

Perhaps my hopes were just too high for the Archbishop. When I saw Dolan on ABC’s 60 Minutes back in March of this year (2011) I was truly impressed by his candor and charm. And when he was elected President of the USCCB over a more liberal opponent, I thought that America might have its first future Pope. But when it mattered most; when it came to show the mustard, to rally his brother Bishops, sound horn, put his foot down, and call Homosexual Marriage what it is, he failed miserably.

That he and the other Bishops of New York laid down for the radicial homoseuxal agenda is a fact, but real question is why. Why did the Bishops of New York sell-out Jesus Christ? Why didn’t they fight for Jesus when it mattered most? Why didn’t they defend the teachings of our Church more courageously, why didn’t they lay down as martyrs over something worth dying over? And why in the Sam Hill is Cuomo and Rudolph W. Giuliani still sticking their middle finger up to the Bishops by receiving the Holy Eucharist, while simultaneously and publicly rejecting the teachings of the Catholic Church?

It’s time for the laity to demand answers from our Bishops who reject martyrdom – who do not stand up for Jesus when He needs them to stand up. And it continues to be the time for us to pray for our Bishops and Priests that they have the fortitude, faith, and hope to stand up for what the Church teaches in the face of demonic relativism, secularism, and temptation from Satan to do otherwise.
