On Tuesday, March 10, 2013 I had the opportunity to talk with Catholic author Constance Gorman about her book ‘The Great Black Hope’. This is an inspiring book about a Black gbhstandout high school football and track athlete named Tony Daniels who encountered a life changing event that sent him on the path to life-threatening depression. Tony’s plight from utter despair to a life full of hope and personal victories happens when he asks a Science teacher to teach him to read. This story takes off when God challenges the teacher to choose: Tony’s life or her career.
This was a really fun and vibrant broadcast. Constance’s book has so much depth about how God’s grace works to put allow each of us to be a Simon of Cyrene – to help our neighbor carry his cross. There was a lot to learn here as well – about education, depression, inner city struggles, and more. We weren’t even able to get to the climax of the book because Constance’s phone did and couldn’t call back in because were in record mode, but it is still one of my most fun interviews thus far.
You can find Constance Gorman online at http://sufficientgracebook.weebly.com/, and you can buy ‘The Great Black Hope’ at Amazon.Com.
This was a really great show. It was one of the most informative and inspirational that we’ve ever broadcast. I hope you get as much out of it as I did! To hear the recorded broadcast you can either go directly to the archive website, or Just Press PLAY Below to Listen.
