On the Second Confession of Saint Peter

Christ Jesus bestowed upon the Apostle Simon Peter a particular ministry, that he and all those who would succeed him as the Vicar of Christ on Earth would carry out. This reflection concerns the Second Confession of Saint Peter. Attached to that confession is the duty for Simon Peter and his successors in the Peterine Ministry to be the servant, slave, and friend of all creatures of God.

How to Claim Your Harvest from God (Pentecost Reflection)

The Christian Feast of Pentecost is the fulfillment of Jewish agrarian festival. For on this day we commemorate the anniversary of Christ Jesus giving His people the Holy Spirit, which He said would guide us to all truth (Cf. Jn. 15:13), and teach us everything and remind us all that Jesus taught us (Cf. Jn. 14:26). In the Old Covenant the Law was written on tablets and parchment, but God’s sharing with the Holy Spirit is the fulfillment of the promise that YHWH made to Jeremiah that in the New Covenant, “I will place my law within them, and write it upon their hearts; I will be their God and they shall be my people.” (Jer. 31:33).

Jesus is Hiring – EOE – Apply In Person

Need a job? Well, there’s absolutely unemployment in the Kingdom of God – it actually has negative zero unemployment. Everyone is already hired; just not everyone has showed up to work yet. You’ve probably heard it said that God doesn’t hire the qualified, he qualifies the call. What that means is that responding to your call to be missionaries of the God’s love is a cooperative venture with you and God, working together – Him in you, with you, and through you – empowering you to give His love away.

The Ministry of John the Waymaker
in Lectionary Cycle B, Reflections on Mass Readings

The Ministry of John the Waymaker

The second week of Advent, in our preparation for the coming of Christ, is the time when we reflect on the ministry of John the Baptist, who I prefer to call John the Waymaker. There are any number of ministries that we can extract from the Scriptures, but in the New Testament it is usually the Peterine Ministry that Catholics are more familiar with, and the Pauline Ministry that all Christians have a general understanding of.

Book: Dead on Arrival: The Seven Fatal Errors of Sola-Scriptura, by David L. Gray

Using Scripture itself, reason, and a spoon full of humor, David L. Gray (also called Yoseph Daviyd) brilliantly reduces the doctrine of Sola-Scripture to absolute absurdity; thus rendering all of Protestantism Dead on Arrival. This book is a must have for all Christians who love sacred Scripture and desire to use it as God intended

On the First Confession of Saint Peter

Christ Jesus bestowed upon the Apostle Simon Peter a particular ministry, that he and all those who would succeed him as the Vicar of Christ on Earth would carry out. This reflection concerns the Second Confession of Saint Peter. Attached to that confession is the duty for Simon Peter and his successors in the Peterine Ministry to be guided by the truth of God the Father, to obey the commands of God the Son, and to listen for and to act upon the promptings of the Holy Spirit.

Justification is a Process

Brothers and sisters: We know that all things work for good for those who love God, who are called according to his purpose. For those he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, so that he might be the [...]

Book: Cooperating with God: The Bridegroom’s Prayer, by David L. Gray

Rather than learning how to avoid near occasions of sin, The Bridegroom’s Prayer teaches us how to seek near occasions of grace through reflecting on the 13 petitions of Christ Jesus in His prayer of High Intimacy to His Father before His sacrifice on the Cross (Seventeenth Chapter of John). In the first book of his series on Cooperating with God, contemplative David L. Gray (Yoseph M. Daviyd) draws from the rich treasure of sacred Scripture, patristic texts, writings of the saints, teachings of the Catholic Church, and stories from his own life to present a masterpiece in systematic Catholic spiritual theology.

Finding God through Ritual

For as long as I can remember, I have always been drawn to ritual, especially when it is connected to pageantry and initiation rites. It is the apparent conveyance of a deeper hidden meaning behind the ritual that captures both my eyes and the imagination. [...]

Finding Christian Unity through the Holy Eucharist

I recently read a question on a Catholic forum from a poster who asked, “Why do Protestants go to Church if not for Communion?” I thought that was a most profound question because in the simplest way possible it highlighted the key difference between Catholic [...]

Cooperating with God through Sacred Scripture (Verbum Domini)

“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path” (Psalm 119:105) On November 11, 2010 Pope Benedict XVI released his post-synodal apostolic exhortation Verbum Domini (The Word of the Lord). This exhortation of the holy Father is his reflection on [...]

The Story of My Conversion to the Catholic Church

In January of 2006, still restless over this issue of competing Protestant denominations, two questions arose in my heart that changed my life for good. Those questions were, “Well, what happened to the Church that Jesus started through his Apostles? What happened to the Churches in the Bible?” What a basic and most fundamental question? I thought I was silly for not asking it a long time ago.
